Multiple Dead After Shooting Inside Gated Florida Community: Sheriff’s Office
SARASOTA, Fla. — Authorities in Florida have launched a homicide investigation after multiple people were found dead inside a home in a gated community on Tuesday afternoon. The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that deputies responded to a residence in the Amberlea subdivision, where they discovered a chaotic scene with no survivors.
The incident began shortly after midday when the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 12:24 p.m. from a neighbor reporting gunfire. Deputies arrived at the scene on the 4820 block of Fallcrest Circle within minutes, establishing a perimeter around the residence. Upon entering the home, law enforcement officials located several deceased individuals.
While the exact number of victims has not yet been publicly released, a spokesperson for the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office stated that “multiple victims” were found inside the property. Investigators have indicated that the suspected shooter is believed to be among the deceased, suggesting a potential murder-suicide scenario, though officials have not yet officially classified the motive.
“We do have multiple victims in the house, and our crime scene forensics team is in there now doing the preliminary investigations,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson told reporters at a press briefing near the scene. Authorities emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the general public.
The investigation prompted a heavy law enforcement presence in the area, leading to significant traffic disruptions. Proctor Road was closed for several hours between McIntosh Road and Honore Avenue as detectives and forensic units processed the scene. Specialized units, including victim advocates and drone operators, were deployed to assist in the investigation.
Residents of the Amberlea community, described by neighbors as a quiet and relatively safe subdivision, expressed shock at the violence. Sheriff’s records indicate that while the specific home had been the subject of two prior police calls, it was not known as a residence that required frequent law enforcement intervention.
As of Wednesday morning, the identities of the deceased have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The Sheriff’s Office has urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact their Criminal Investigations Bureau as the inquiry continues.
