Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Reportedly Purchasing $150 Million Estate in Miami’s “Billionaire Bunker”
Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly set to expand his real estate portfolio with a significant acquisition in South Florida. According to multiple reports, the tech billionaire is in the final stages of purchasing a waterfront estate on Indian Creek Island, an exclusive enclave in Miami often referred to as the “Billionaire Bunker” due to its high-profile residents and intense security measures.
The property, which is reportedly selling for a price between $150 million and $200 million, was previously owned by Peter Cancro, the founder of Jersey Mike’s Subs. Cancro purchased the site in 2021 for $37 million and has since developed a custom estate on the land. While the transaction has been conducted off-market and has not yet been officially recorded, sources indicate that Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, expect to take possession of the home in time for an April move-in.
If the deal closes as anticipated, Zuckerberg will join a neighborhood already populated by some of the world’s wealthiest and most recognizable figures. Current residents of Indian Creek include Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who recently acquired multiple properties on the island, as well as NFL legend Tom Brady, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. The man-made island is renowned for its privacy, boasting its own dedicated police force and a 24-hour armed marine patrol that circles the perimeter to prevent unauthorized access from the water.
The reported move comes amidst a broader trend of high-net-worth individuals relocating from California to Florida. Industry analysts have pointed to a proposed California wealth tax, which would levy a surcharge on residents with assets exceeding $1 billion, as a potential driver for this migration. Other tech titans, including Oracle’s Larry Ellison and Tesla’s Elon Musk, have also moved their primary residences or significant operations out of California in recent years.
The Indian Creek estate features approximately two acres of land with extensive waterfront frontage, a private dock, and multiple structures, including a main residence and a guest house. This acquisition would add to Zuckerberg’s already impressive collection of real estate, which includes a massive compound in Palo Alto, California, a 1,400-acre ranch in Kauai, Hawaii, and properties in Lake Tahoe.
Neither Meta representatives nor Zuckerberg have issued a public comment regarding the purchase. However, real estate insiders suggest the deal highlights the continued demand for ultra-luxury properties in South Florida, solidifying Miami’s status as a premier destination for global capital and tech leadership.
