SAN DIEGO — A young boy has died after a hit-and-run crash in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego on Saturday afternoon, authorities confirmed. At approximately 3:45 p.m., a 6-year-old riding his bicycle with family was hit by a vehicle in an alleyway near Pacific Beach Drive and Ingraham Street. Suspect Apprehended After Fleeing the Scene
Police later located the suspected driver — a 32-year-old woman — in nearby National City and took her into custody. Authorities report alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision, and charges are pending as the investigation continues. Officers have appealed for anyone with information about the crash to contact local law enforcement.
Community in Mourning; Calls for Safer Streets
Friends, family and neighbors have created an impromptu memorial at the site, placing flowers, candles and heartfelt notes in memory of the boy. Residents described the loss as devastating and have urged for improved traffic safety measures in the neighborhood. A GoFundMe initiative started by loved ones has raised significant support, honoring the child’s curiosity, joy and love of outdoor activities.
Local schools have offered support services to students and staff affected by the tragedy as the Pacific Beach community continues to grieve.
