A shooting incident near England’s planned World Cup training base in Kansas City, Missouri, left nine people injured over the weekend, raising concerns ahead of the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to local authorities, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the early hours of Saturday. When police arrived, a large crowd was leaving the area, and several victims required medical treatment. Officials said all injuries were non-life-threatening.
England’s squad and coaching staff were not in Kansas City when the incident occurred. The team is currently preparing in Florida before relocating to Missouri for the tournament.
