A disturbing homicide case in Illinois has shocked the local community after prosecutors alleged a man recorded a prolonged assault on his ex-girlfriend before killing her inside their home. Authorities say the victim, a 43-year-old nurse and mother, was found dead during a welfare check in Schaumburg, while the suspect was discovered on the property and taken into custody.
Investigators claim the attack lasted for several hours and included physical violence, sexual assault, and repeated threats before the victim was strangled to death.
Welfare Check Led Police to Grim Discovery
Police officers responded to the residence after concerns were raised when the victim failed to contact family and friends throughout the day. According to authorities, officers forced entry into the home and located the woman deceased with visible injuries.
The suspect, identified as 56-year-old Kevin Motykie, was reportedly found in the garage area and arrested. Officials stated there was already an active domestic violence-related warrant connected to an earlier incident involving the same victim.
An autopsy later ruled the death a homicide caused by strangulation.
Prosecutors Allege Seven-Hour Recording Captured Attack
During court proceedings, prosecutors revealed investigators recovered an audio recording device allegedly containing more than seven hours of audio from the incident.
According to reports, the recording allegedly captured arguments, threats, screams, and repeated assaults throughout the night. Prosecutors claim the victim could be heard pleading with the suspect while he accused her of infidelity and restrained her using handcuffs and tape.
Authorities further alleged the final moments of the recording documented the victim being strangled.
Motykie now faces charges including first-degree murder and multiple counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. He remains in custody while awaiting future court appearances.

Friends and coworkers described the victim as a caring healthcare professional who dedicated more than two decades to nursing. A local medical spa where she worked shared emotional tributes online, remembering her kindness and compassion toward patients and coworkers.
