Drone Strike in Central Sudan Leaves Nine Relatives of Pro-Army Commander Dead KILLED e1778551974457

At least nine family members of a commander aligned with the Sudanese army were killed after a drone strike targeted a residential area in central Sudan, according to local reports.

Deadly Attack Hits Family Home in Central Sudan

The strike reportedly hit the home of Abu Aqla Keikal, a commander supporting Sudan’s military forces, in Gezira State. Several victims from the same family were killed instantly, while others suffered serious injuries.

The attack comes as fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues to intensify across multiple regions of the country.

Rising Drone Warfare Deepens Sudan Crisis

Drone attacks have become increasingly common in Sudan’s civil conflict, with both sides accused of carrying out strikes on military and civilian locations.

Witnesses said the latest explosion caused major destruction to the property and nearby buildings. Emergency teams and local residents rushed to rescue survivors trapped under debris.

Security analysts believe the attack reflects the growing use of advanced drone technology in the war, which has already displaced millions of people and pushed several areas deeper into humanitarian crisis.

Sudan Conflict Continues to Escalate

Sudan has remained trapped in violent conflict since clashes erupted between rival military factions in 2023. The ongoing war has devastated infrastructure, weakened healthcare systems, and forced families to flee their homes.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned about the danger of attacks in populated neighborhoods, especially as drone strikes become more frequent.

The latest incident has renewed concerns over civilian safety and the expanding scale of violence in central Sudan and nearby regions.

according to a source who requested anonymity, concerns information related to the hours before the killing of Azam Keikal.

According to what local media reported, the responsible source explained that the day before the march was launched, a ceremony was organized in honor of a visit by the chief of the Al-Dar Hamid tribe, alongside leaders linked to Al-Nour Al-Qabba, in the Al-Batana region.

During the occasion, those leaders presented gifts including members of the Keikal family, Azam Keikal, Abu Ubaida Keikal, and commemorative scarves.

The source added that it is likely those scarves may have contained electronic chips used to determine locations, which were later used in carrying out a precise strike targeting leaders of the ‘Rapid Support Forces.’
