A delivery driver in Minnesota is being recognized for quick action after reportedly helping save a woman during a violent domestic assault inside her home.
Authorities said the incident happened in Wyoming, Minnesota, when an Amazon delivery driver arrived at a residence and heard screaming coming from inside the property. The driver reportedly entered the home after noticing signs of danger and found a woman injured while a man allegedly held a hammer nearby.
Police said the driver immediately confronted the suspect, ordered him to drop the weapon, and contacted emergency services.
Driver Reportedly Intervened During Violent Attack
According to investigators, officers responding to the emergency call discovered the victim suffering from severe head injuries and significant blood loss inside the home.
The woman later told authorities she had managed to fight back by kicking her attacker before the delivery driver intervened. Officials identified the suspect as her husband, James Alan Johnson, who was taken into custody after the incident.
Authorities credited the driver’s fast response with potentially preventing an even more tragic outcome.
Suspect Faces Attempted Murder Charges
Court documents state the suspect allegedly admitted to planning the attack in advance. Investigators said financial concerns and fears over reduced Social Security income may have played a role in the alleged motive.
Johnson has been charged with first-degree premeditated attempted murder and second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. He remains in custody at the Chisago County Jail while the investigation continues.
Community Praises Driver’s Quick Thinking
The incident has sparked praise online for the delivery driver’s bravery and willingness to step into a dangerous situation.
Local residents and social media users have described the driver as a hero for taking immediate action instead of ignoring the warning signs. Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
