7 Teens Hospitalized After Fatal Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle in Maryland
A tragic early-morning crash in Germantown, Maryland, left one man dead and seven teenagers hospitalized after a stolen vehicle collided with another car.
The collision happened at approximately 5:25 a.m. at the intersection of Great Seneca Highway and Clopper Road. Authorities said a stolen Kia Optima carrying seven juveniles struck a Toyota Matrix driven by an adult man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Emergency crews responded quickly, rescuing several trapped occupants and transporting all seven teenagers to nearby hospitals with injuries ranging from minor to critical.
Driver of Stolen Car Among Those Seriously Injured
According to investigators, the occupants of the stolen Kia were between the ages of 12 and 15. Officials believe one of the juveniles was driving the vehicle at the time of the crash.
The young driver suffered critical but stable injuries, while the remaining passengers were treated for injuries of varying severity. Images from the scene showed the Kia overturned on a sidewalk and the Toyota heavily damaged from the impact.
