Heavily Armed Suspect Detained Before Trump Fundraiser in California

A heavily armed man was arrested at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, just days before President Donald Trump was scheduled to attend a Republican fundraising event, according to law enforcement officials.

The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey, was taken into custody after authorities observed suspicious behavior around the golf course, including photographing and filming security preparations. Investigators say officers later discovered firearms, prohibited ammunition, and additional tactical equipment during searches connected to the case.

Authorities Say Suspect Appeared to Monitor Security Activity

Officials said Taele was first noticed walking around the golf course while wearing an earpiece and recording security-related activity. When deputies contacted him, they allegedly found a loaded ammunition magazine on his person.

A search of his vehicle reportedly uncovered a loaded handgun, additional ammunition, and other items that raised concerns for investigators. Authorities later searched his residence, where they recovered more firearms, including an illegally modified rifle, body armor, communication devices, high-capacity magazines, and notebooks containing disturbing writings.

Multiple Charges Filed as Federal Investigation Continues

Taele now faces several weapons-related charges, including unlawfully carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition. Federal agencies, including the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service, are assisting with the ongoing investigation.

Officials emphasized that, despite the significant weapons seizure, investigators have not identified a credible ongoing threat to the public. The scheduled fundraiser proceeded under heightened security while authorities continued examining the suspect’s motives and any potential connections to broader criminal activity.
