Norwegian Teen Faces Trial Over Alleged Murder Conspiracy in Britain
A Norwegian teenager is standing trial in the United Kingdom after prosecutors alleged he traveled to Britain to carry out a paid assassination on behalf of a Swedish organized crime group.
The case was presented at London’s Old Bailey court, where prosecutors said the teenager, identified as Johannes Natland, was recruited by a criminal network known as the Foxtrot Network and agreed to undertake a murder-for-hire operation in exchange for money.
Natland, now 19, has denied a charge of conspiracy to murder.
Arrested in England With Firearms and Ammunition
According to prosecutors, Natland was arrested in March 2025 at a hotel in Huddersfield, northern England. Authorities allegedly discovered two firearms and ammunition in his possession during the arrest.
The prosecution told jurors that the suspect had traveled from Norway to Britain as part of a planned operation targeting an unidentified individual.
Court proceedings revealed that Natland had previously admitted to possessing a semi-automatic handgun, a revolver, and live ammunition. However, he disputes allegations that he was involved in a broader murder conspiracy.
Prosecutors Claim Crime Group Had Links to Iranian Interests
During opening arguments, prosecutors alleged that the Foxtrot Network, a well-known Swedish criminal organization, had connections to activities benefiting Iranian interests.
The court heard claims that the teenager was recruited through the network and was expected to carry out a targeted killing after arriving in the UK.
British authorities have not publicly identified the intended victim, and details surrounding the alleged target remain restricted as the trial continues.
Trial Continues at Old Bailey
The case has drawn attention because of the alleged involvement of international criminal networks and cross-border recruitment. Prosecutors argue that the operation demonstrates how organized crime groups can be used to facilitate violent plots across multiple countries.
Natland maintains his innocence regarding the conspiracy charge, and the trial is expected to continue as jurors examine evidence presented by both the prosecution and defense.
