A shocking child abuse case has emerged from Maryland, where a 23-year-old man has been taken into custody months after allegedly carrying out a violent attack on a one-year-old child. Authorities say the suspect had been evading arrest for several months before being captured and now faces multiple serious criminal charges.
Suspect Accused of Brutal Assault on Infant
According to investigators, the incident took place on June 5, 2025, when police responded to reports of an assault at a residence in Capitol Heights. During the incident, the accused allegedly threw the infant down a flight of stairs inside the home.
Officials say the situation escalated further when the man reportedly picked up the child and barricaded himself inside a room. While inside, he allegedly threw the child out of a window, where the infant landed in a trash container outside the property.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the condition of the child following the incident.
Nine-Month Manhunt Ends in Arrest
After the alleged attack, the suspect fled the scene and avoided law enforcement for approximately nine months. Officials confirmed that he was recently located and arrested, bringing an end to the lengthy search.
Law enforcement agencies tracked the suspect during this period before finally taking him into custody. He is currently being held without bond as the legal process moves forward.
Multiple Serious Charges Filed
The accused now faces a range of serious charges, including attempted murder, assault, child abuse, and reckless endangerment. Court records indicate several counts have been filed, reflecting the severity of the alleged actions.
