A 31-year-old school employee in Union City, Indiana, has been taken into custody on serious charges after police say she engaged in inappropriate sexual relationships with students. The arrest came amid an investigation into a reported battery incident that revealed deeper allegations involving a minor.
Investigation Begins With Battery Report
Union City Police responded to reports of a possible battery on Saturday, leading officers to uncover a troubling situation involving a school staff member. When authorities arrived at the scene, they learned that the woman’s spouse had reportedly found her with an 18-year-old student connected to the Randolph Eastern School Corporation and confronted the pair. During this interaction, the suspect was allegedly injured in the ensuing confrontation.
Sexual Misconduct Allegations Uncovered
As the probe continued, investigators allege the staffer also had a sexual relationship with a different student who was 17 years old. Police say the intimate encounters with that minor happened on multiple occasions, prompting additional scrutiny and charges.
Authorities charged the 31-year-old with five counts of child seduction based on their findings. She was booked into the Randolph County Jail and is being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond as the case proceeds.
School and Police Response
Officials with the Randolph Eastern School Corporation are cooperating with law enforcement as the investigation continues. School administrators have removed the employee from any duties involving students while authorities gather further evidence. Police encourage community members with additional information to come forward to assist in the ongoing inquiry.
