ICE Agents Fire at Vehicle During Christmas Eve Incident in Maryland, Two Injured download 26

A Christmas Eve encounter in Maryland turned violent after federal immigration agents fired multiple shots at a moving vehicle, leaving two people injured. The incident occurred during a law enforcement operation and is now under investigation by local and federal authorities.

According to officials, the shooting happened late Tuesday night when agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement were conducting official duties in a residential area. Investigators say the vehicle involved attempted to flee and posed a direct threat to the agents.

Vehicle Allegedly Attempted to Strike Agents

Law enforcement officials stated that ICE agents approached a vehicle connected to an active operation when the driver suddenly accelerated. Authorities allege the vehicle was driven toward the agents, prompting them to open fire in self-defense.

Multiple shots were fired as the car sped away. The vehicle was later stopped a short distance from the scene, and two occupants were found suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.

Ongoing Investigation Into Use of Force

State and local police have launched a formal investigation to determine whether the use of force was justified. Officials are reviewing body-camera footage, witness statements, and physical evidence from the scene.

ICE confirmed the agents involved have been placed on administrative duty, a standard procedure during shooting investigations. Authorities emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Community and Official Response

The incident has raised questions within the community, particularly because it occurred on Christmas Eve in a populated area. Law enforcement agencies have asked residents to remain patient while investigators complete their review.

Officials said further details, including potential charges or policy findings, will be released once the investigation concludes.
