Father Dies Shielding Daughter From Alleged Attack
A tragic shooting in Concord, North Carolina, claimed the life of a 47-year-old father who reportedly stepped in to defend his teenage daughter during a violent domestic dispute.
Authorities said the incident happened shortly after midnight on June 1 when police responded to reports of gunfire at a residence. Officers found the father dead at the scene and his 16-year-old daughter suffering from serious gunshot wounds. She was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Investigators believe the girl’s 17-year-old boyfriend was responsible for the attack.
Argument Escalated Into Violence
According to investigators, the couple had been involved in an argument that turned physical. Police allege the teenage suspect assaulted his girlfriend before the girl’s father intervened in an attempt to stop the violence.
During the confrontation, the suspect allegedly fired multiple shots, fatally striking the father and seriously injuring the teenager.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the area but was captured by officers following a brief foot chase nearby.
Teen Suspect Faces Adult Charges
Authorities said the 17-year-old has been charged as an adult. Charges include first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and inflict serious injury, domestic violence-related offenses, resisting officers, and additional drug-related charges.
The suspect is being held without bond at the Cabarrus County Jail. Court proceedings are ongoing, with another hearing scheduled later this month.

Neighbors and members of the community have remembered the victim as a devoted father who made the ultimate sacrifice while trying to protect his daughter.
Residents also expressed concern about how a teenager was able to obtain a firearm, calling the incident a heartbreaking example of domestic violence escalating into tragedy.
