A tragic road accident in New York has claimed the lives of an elderly pastor and his wife after a suspected drunk driver triggered a devastating multi-vehicle collision. The incident, which involved several vehicles and multiple injuries, has raised fresh concerns about impaired driving and road safety.

Crash Triggered by Alleged Drunk Driving

According to investigators, the crash occurred on the Southern State Parkway in Long Island on the night of March 15. Authorities say a 36-year-old woman, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, lost control of her SUV after sideswiping another vehicle.

Her vehicle reportedly crossed the median into oncoming traffic, colliding with multiple cars before crashing head-on into an SUV carrying the elderly couple. Police believe both speed and intoxication played a major role in the accident.

Pastor and Wife Killed, Several Others Injured

The victims, identified as an 82-year-old pastor and his 88-year-old wife, were pronounced dead at the scene. The pastor was known in his community for leading a local church and was widely respected among his congregation.

Officials confirmed that the crash involved six vehicles and around ten individuals. Several people were hospitalized, with at least one person reported to be in critical condition, while others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Driver Faces Serious Charges

The driver accused of causing the crash is now facing multiple felony charges, including aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter, assault, and driving while intoxicated. Reports indicate her blood alcohol level was above the legal limit at the time of the crash.

During court proceedings, she pleaded not guilty, and the case is expected to move forward as authorities continue their investigation.
