California Man Taken Into Custody in Roommate Death Investigation
A California man has been arrested in connection with the death of his roommate after investigators uncovered human remains buried in a shallow grave behind their shared home, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Daniel Howard Joslin, 61, who had been reported missing after relatives and friends were unable to contact him for several days. Investigators initially believed he may have traveled out of state, but that theory was later ruled out as the investigation progressed.
Search Leads to Grim Discovery
Authorities launched a missing person investigation after Joslin disappeared and concerns grew over his unexplained absence. Detectives later obtained a search warrant for the residence the victim shared with Cris Jones, 60, in Yucca Valley, California.
During the search, investigators located human remains buried in a shallow grave in the backyard. The remains were later confirmed to be those of Joslin, prompting officials to reclassify the case as a homicide investigation.
Suspect Arrested in Oregon
Following the discovery, detectives worked with law enforcement agencies in Oregon to locate Jones. He was eventually arrested in Clackamas County, Oregon, and is currently awaiting extradition to California, where he will face proceedings related to the homicide case.
Authorities have not yet disclosed a possible motive or the exact cause and time of Joslin’s death. Investigators say the case remains active, and anyone with relevant information is encouraged to contact law enforcement as they continue gathering evidence.
