Four people, including three children, were killed in a series of Russian drone attacks in Ukraine’s Kyiv region, according to regional authorities on Sunday. The casualties included a mother and her two 3-year-old children, while another girl died in hospital after being injured in a separate strike. The attacks also caused damage to homes, businesses, vehicles and other infrastructure across several districts.
Mother and Two Young Children Killed in Home Strike
Ukrainian emergency officials said a Russian drone struck a private residence in the Kyiv region, killing a mother and her two 3-year-old children.
A fourth victim, a girl injured during another drone attack in the region, later died while receiving treatment in hospital, according to Kyiv regional authorities. This brought the reported death toll from the attacks to four, including three children.
The strikes came amid continued Russian drone attacks targeting Kyiv and surrounding areas. Ukrainian officials have reported repeated aerial attacks on the capital region in recent weeks.
31 Sites Damaged Across Five Districts
Kyiv regional governor Tymur Tkachenko said the region experienced more than 24 hours of attacks, resulting in damage at 31 locations across five districts.
The Fastiv district in the southwestern part of the region suffered the most extensive damage, with 24 sites affected. The damaged locations included residential properties, industrial and utility facilities, vehicles and areas belonging to an agricultural business.
Other damage was reported in several districts, including Vyshhorod, Obukhiv, Brovary and Bucha. Authorities said private homes and other civilian facilities were among the structures affected.
Drone Attacks Continue Around Kyiv
The latest strikes add to a continuing pattern of Russian drone attacks around Kyiv and the surrounding region. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly reported damage to civilian infrastructure during these attacks.
In Kyiv city itself, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said drone activity continued, with debris reported in multiple districts and one person injured. The latest incidents highlight the ongoing threat posed by aerial attacks to communities in and around the Ukrainian capital.
Russian officials had not publicly commented on the reported casualties in the Kyiv region at the time of the reports.
