Police have announced the arrest of 12 men following a holiday-themed undercover operation aimed at stopping online sexual exploitation of minors. The sting, known as “Bad Santa,” focused on individuals who allegedly used the internet to arrange sexual encounters with someone they believed to be underage. Authorities say the operation highlights ongoing risks children face online, especially during the holiday season.

Undercover Operation Targeted Online Predators

According to investigators, the operation involved undercover officers posing as minors on social media platforms and messaging apps. The suspects allegedly initiated or continued explicit conversations and later arranged in-person meetings.

When the men arrived at the agreed-upon locations, they were taken into custody by waiting officers. Police say the arrests were carried out safely, with no real minors involved at any stage of the investigation.

Serious Charges Filed Against Suspects

Authorities confirmed that all 12 men are facing multiple felony charges related to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor, online solicitation, and related offenses. Some suspects may also face additional charges depending on digital evidence recovered from their devices.

Law enforcement officials stressed that even attempting to communicate with a minor for sexual purposes is a serious crime, regardless of whether a meeting actually takes place.

Police Warn Parents and Guardians

Following the arrests, police urged parents and guardians to remain alert about their children’s online activity. Officials recommend open conversations about internet safety, privacy settings, and reporting suspicious messages.

Investigators emphasized that similar undercover operations will continue throughout the year as part of broader efforts to protect children from online predators.
