Five people have been arrested in connection with a devastating California crash that claimed the lives of two teenage best friends described by their families as “inseparable.”
The fatal collision happened in Victorville on Aug. 14 and involved multiple vehicles. Authorities said two drivers are facing serious allegations in connection with the deaths of the teenagers, while three other people were also arrested during the investigation.
Two Teenage Best Friends Killed in Victorville Crash
The victims were identified by their families as 17-year-old Maddalyn Dailey and 16-year-old Isabell DeLang. The two girls had reportedly been close friends since elementary school and attended Sultana High School.
According to investigators, the crash occurred after two vehicles were allegedly traveling at extremely high speeds through a residential area. Both vehicles reportedly collided with the car carrying the teenagers.
Maddalyn was driving Isabell home when the tragic crash occurred. She had reportedly planned to return home afterward for dinner with her family.
The families of both teenagers said the girls had promising futures ahead of them, making the sudden loss even more heartbreaking for their loved ones and the local community.
Two Drivers Face Murder and Vehicular Manslaughter Allegations
Authorities arrested George Gary Sanchez, 49, and Terry Lamar Easter, 50, in connection with the fatal incident.
Investigators believe Sanchez was driving a Dodge Charger. He was taken into custody shortly after the crash. Easter, who was allegedly driving a Chevrolet Camaro that left the scene, later surrendered to authorities following a multi-day search.
Both men were booked on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter with negligence. Officials had not publicly confirmed whether either suspect had entered a plea or hired legal representation.
Three Others Arrested During Investigation
Three additional people were arrested on suspicion of being accessories in connection with the investigation. They were identified as Ryan James Lewis, 45, of Victorville; Lukevy Shawntell Yates, 49, of Apple Valley; and Madge Wells, 74, also of Apple Valley.
Authorities said the three individuals cooperated with investigators and were later released.
Law enforcement officials said the arrests represent an important step in the investigation into the deaths of the two California teenagers.
