Woman Admits Role in Deadly Drink-Spiking Scheme That Claimed Two Lives
A woman who posed as an escort online has pleaded guilty in England after admitting to her involvement in a criminal scheme that led to the deaths of two men. Along with her male accomplice, she targeted victims seeking sexual services, secretly drugged their drinks, and robbed them while they were unconscious.
The case, which was investigated by multiple police forces, uncovered a series of planned attacks carried out over nearly a year. Authorities say the pair’s actions resulted in the deaths of two victims and the poisoning of two others who survived.
Victims Were Drugged Before Being Robbed
According to investigators, 31-year-old Adina Mihai and 30-year-old Madalin Dumitru carried out the crimes between August 2024 and July 2025.
Police said the suspects contacted men through online arrangements for sexual services. After receiving deposits, Mihai allegedly visited the victims at their homes, where she secretly mixed GBL into their alcoholic drinks. The chemical converts into GHB inside the body, a powerful sedative that can quickly render a person unconscious.
Once the victims lost consciousness, the pair allegedly stole their belongings.
The scheme led to the deaths of 37-year-old Gary Mouat in July 2025 and 80-year-old Malcolm King in August 2024. Investigators later determined that King’s death, originally believed to have been caused by existing health conditions, was connected to the same criminal operation after evidence emerged during the investigation into Mouat’s death.
Investigation Linked Multiple Cases
Following the second death, police issued alerts to investigate similar unexplained incidents across England. The inquiry uncovered two additional victims who survived after being drugged.
Both Mihai and Dumitru were arrested on July 31, 2025. During proceedings at Oxford Crown Court, they pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts each of administering poison.
Investigators praised the extensive joint investigation, stating that the evidence gathered left the defendants with little option but to admit their crimes.
Authorities Highlight Importance of Joint Investigation
Law enforcement officials said cooperation between Thames Valley Police and Gloucestershire Constabulary played a crucial role in solving the case. Officers described the investigation as detailed and complex, involving forensic evidence and the review of multiple incidents before linking the deaths to the same suspects.
The defendants are expected to be sentenced at a later date.
