Emmy Winner Turns Himself In After Warrant Issued

Veteran actor and director Timothy Busfield surrendered to law enforcement in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Tuesday after an arrest warrant was issued charging him with child sex abuse and criminal sexual contact of a minor. The warrant stems from allegations involving inappropriate conduct with children while Busfield was directing and acting on a television production.

The 68-year-old, known for roles in television series such as The West Wing and Thirtysomething, was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Bernalillo County following his surrender.

Details of the Allegations and Legal Charges

According to court documents, the charges include two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and one count of child abuse, all connected to alleged incidents on the set of the FOX series The Cleaning Lady in Albuquerque. The criminal complaint states that the misconduct involved two young boys who were working as actors in the series.

Police reports indicate that one of the children later received a diagnosis of PTSD and anxiety after the incidents were reported to authorities. The alleged conduct reportedly occurred over a period spanning from late 2022 into 2024.

Busfield Denies Allegations, Prepares Legal Defense

In a statement shared publicly, Busfield has denied the accusations, labeling them as untrue and affirming his intent to defend himself vigorously in court. His attorney has reinforced that position, stressing his client’s denial of the charges.

Production partners have also responded: The Cleaning Lady producer emphasized cooperation with investigators, and a scheduled episode of Law & Order: SVU featuring Busfield was pulled from upcoming broadcast plans amid the unfolding case developments.

Busfield’s first court appearance is anticipated soon as the legal process continues to unfold.
