High-Profile Actor Sought by Authorities
Veteran actor and director Timothy Busfield, known for roles in The West Wing and Field of Dreams, is the subject of an active search by the U.S. Marshals Service and Albuquerque Police Department after an arrest warrant was issued in New Mexico on serious sexual abuse charges.
Busfield, age 68, has not been located since the warrant was issued, and federal agents have stepped in to assist local law enforcement in finding him.
Charges and Investigation Details
Officials in New Mexico have charged Busfield with two counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor and an additional child abuse charge stemming from alleged incidents that occurred during his time directing episodes of the Fox crime drama The Cleaning Lady.
According to law enforcement, the alleged victims were 11-year-old twin boys who worked on the set. Authorities say the investigation began after concerns were raised in late 2024, and the formal arrest warrant was issued earlier this month.
Busfield has denied the allegations, telling investigators that some contact could have occurred but disputing claims of abuse.
Industry Response and Ongoing Search
The U.S. Marshals’ involvement underscores the seriousness of the case and the challenge authorities face in locating Busfield, whose current whereabouts remain unknown.
In response to the ongoing investigation, NBC pulled an upcoming Law & Order: SVU episode featuring Busfield amid the charges, and production companies involved with The Cleaning Lady have stated they are cooperating with authorities.
