Trevor Noah Targets Nicki Minaj and Donald Trump in Final Grammy Monologue
Trevor Noah, hosting the Grammy Awards for the sixth and final time, directed a satirical remark at rapper Nicki Minaj during his opening monologue on Sunday night, referencing her recent public support for President Donald Trump. Addressing the star-studded audience at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Noah highlighted Minaj’s absence from the ceremony with a pointed quip about her political activities.
“Nicki Minaj is not here,” Noah announced to the crowd, which responded with audible cheers. “She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump discussing very important issues.”
The joke was a direct reference to Minaj’s appearance earlier this week at a U.S. Treasury event in Washington, D.C., known as the “Trump Accounts Summit.” During that appearance, the rapper stood alongside President Trump and declared herself his “No. 1 fan,” stating that her support for him “is not going to change.”
Noah extended the segment by slipping into an impression of President Trump, imagining a conversation between the politician and the rapper regarding their physical attributes. “Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest ass! Everybody’s saying it,” Noah said, mimicking Trump’s distinctive speaking style. “I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it, baby.”
The comedic bit drew a significant reaction from the attendees. Reports from the venue indicated that the audience erupted in laughter and applause following the punchline. Model Chrissy Teigen was observed giving a thumbs-up gesture in reaction to the comments about Minaj’s absence.
While Noah’s hosting tenure has often blended pop culture with light political commentary, this specific segment stood out as a direct address of the rapper’s controversial alignment with the MAGA movement. Minaj, who was not nominated for an award at this year’s ceremony, has not yet issued a public response to the monologue.
