A Texas mother has been arrested after authorities conducting a welfare check reportedly discovered her three children living in unsafe and unsanitary conditions inside a Nacogdoches home.

Keosha Hubbard-Woodson, 28, was taken into custody on Aug. 9 and charged with three counts of endangering a child, according to an arrest affidavit cited in local reporting. Investigators said the residence lacked basic necessities, including running water and suitable beds, while the children were reportedly surrounded by extensive trash, spoiled food and feces.

Police Discover Severe Conditions Inside Nacogdoches Home

Officers responding to the welfare check described the home as being in extremely poor condition. Authorities reportedly found large amounts of garbage throughout the residence, along with rotting food, a significant insect infestation and feces believed to have come from a human or animal.

The children allegedly did not have access to appropriate sleeping arrangements or basic living facilities. Police also reported that there was no running water inside the home.

The children were reportedly wearing visibly dirty clothing when officers arrived, adding to concerns about their health and welfare.

Children Reportedly Had Untreated Medical Problems

Authorities also observed signs that the children had medical needs that had not been properly addressed. According to the arrest affidavit, the children showed symptoms including skin-related conditions and severe stomach pain.

Emergency medical personnel were called to the residence and provided treatment to the children following the welfare check.

Child Protective Services subsequently took custody of the children, according to local reports.

Mother Remains in Jail as Case Moves Forward

Hubbard-Woodson was being held at the Gregg County Jail without bond as of Aug. 17. The case remains under investigation, and it was not immediately clear whether she had obtained an attorney to represent her.

The Nacogdoches Police Department and Texas Department of Family and Protective Services had not publicly provided additional details at the time of reporting.

The charges against Hubbard-Woodson are allegations, and she is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
