Slovak authorities have revealed that a planned arson attack in eastern Slovakia was aimed at a production facility operated by drone manufacturer Skyeton. Three foreign nationals are suspected of involvement in the alleged plot, which police say was stopped before the planned attack could take place.
The case has drawn attention because Skyeton is a Ukrainian-founded company that produces drones for civilian and military purposes. Authorities are continuing their investigation into who may have ordered the alleged attack.
Prosecutors Confirm Skyeton Was the Intended Target
A spokesperson for the regional prosecution office in the eastern Slovak city of Prešov confirmed that the planned attack was intended to target a Skyeton factory.
The company operates in the drone technology sector and has a manufacturing presence in eastern Slovakia. According to information released during the investigation, the alleged arson plot involved preparations to set fire to the production facility.
Slovak police said they discovered incendiary materials and other evidence connected to the suspected plan. Authorities believe the suspects may have been acting on instructions from another party, although investigators have not publicly identified who allegedly commissioned the operation.
Three Foreign Suspects Linked to Investigation
Two suspects have been detained in Slovakia, while a third suspect, a 26-year-old Latvian national, was taken into custody in Hamburg, Germany.
Slovak prosecutors identified the two suspects held in Slovakia as a Latvian citizen and a Ukrainian citizen. A court in Prešov ordered that they remain in custody while the investigation continues.
German authorities are handling proceedings related to the third suspect’s possible extradition to Slovakia.
Police said the intervention prevented what could have become a serious attack on the production site. Investigators have continued examining the seized materials and the suspected planning behind the operation.
