Serial Kidnapper and Rapist Arrested — Faces Federal Charges for Attacks on Minor and Multiple Women 190205 D KG403 0002

Horrific Allegations: Kidnapping and Sexual Assault Spanning Years

A 28-year-old individual, identified as Abdimahat Bille Mohamed, has now been charged under federal law for a series of kidnappings and rapes — including one involving a minor. Prosecutors allege that beginning in 2017, Mohamed kidnapped and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl. Between that instance and the most recent in 2025, he is accused of assaulting several adult women in multiple violent and predatory incidents. Department of Justice

According to court filings, Mohamed approached at least five women over the years — sometimes meeting them online, offering rides, then detouring their paths and committing heinous acts under threat of violence. Investigators assert there is probable cause that links him to multiple kidnappings and gang rapes.

Timeline of Alleged Crimes

  • December 2017: The first known instance involved a 15-year-old girl. The victim, who had met Mohamed online, was reportedly driven to Minneapolis, where she was abducted and raped at gunpoint.
  • February & May 2018, and May 2024: Additional adult victims came forward with accounts of abduction, assault, and sexual violence. In several cases, the assaults involved multiple attackers, threats with firearms, and coercion.
  • September 2025: The most recent case allegedly involved an adult woman. She was picked up under false pretences, driven to a hotel, held for nearly a week, and repeatedly raped. She eventually managed to escape and contact authorities. DNA evidence later tied this crime to Mohamed.

Investigators uncovered matching DNA evidence from multiple crime scenes that exclude more than 99.99% of the population — supporting the belief that the attacks over these years are linked to the same individual.

Federal Action: Charges, Prosecutorial Response & Potential Sentence

On December 3, 2025, federal law enforcement agencies received information regarding violent kidnappings and sexual assaults connected to Mohamed. A prompt investigation led to the filing of a federal complaint charging him with kidnapping a minor, kidnapping, and related offenses.

If convicted, Mohamed faces a minimum of 20 years in prison and up to life behind bars. Federal prosecutors have emphasized their commitment to aggressive prosecution, especially given the history of prior local proceedings that allegedly failed to prevent further violence.

Authorities continue to investigate whether there may be additional victims beyond those currently identified. The case was brought forward in cooperation with multiple law-enforcement agencies, reflecting the serious and broad nature of the alleged offenses.
