Tragic Ambush in Northridge
A 22-year-old Latin music artist, known as DELAROSA, was fatally shot early Saturday while sitting in a parked car in the Northridge neighborhood of Los Angeles. The singer — real name Maria De La Rosa — was accompanied by two others when three armed men allegedly approached the vehicle, demanded money, and opened fire. All three occupants were struck; DELAROSA succumbed to her injuries at a hospital, while the other two remain in critical condition.
Suspects Arrested, Charges Filed
Authorities announced murder charges Wednesday against three men allegedly involved in the shooting. Two suspects, both 27, were detained within a day of the incident. A third suspect, 21, remains at large, with a warrant issued for his arrest. All three face one count of murder and two counts of attempted second-degree robbery. Prosecutors described the attack as “ruthless and targeted,” underscoring the deadly seriousness of the crime.
A Promising Career Cut Short
DELAROSA had recently entered the Latin music scene and released her single “No Me Llames” (“Don’t Call Me”) just months ago. Her social media presence was growing, with over 40,000 followers. Her sudden and violent death has shocked fans, friends, and fellow artists, many of whom expressed grief and paid tribute across social platforms. The loss has sparked an outpouring of sorrow and raised urgent calls for justice.
What’s Next: Investigation and Justice
The shooting remains under active investigation. Law enforcement agencies urge anyone with information about the attack to come forward. With two suspects already in custody and a third wanted, prosecutors are preparing for trial. The case underscores growing concerns about violent crime in certain neighborhoods — and the fragility of life even for emerging artists on the brink of stardom.
