Tragic Crash in Cincinnati Ends in Prison Sentence
CINCINNATI — A 25-year-old Ohio woman has been sentenced to prison after admitting she drove her car into three young children during a heated dispute outside an apartment complex last year. The sentence was handed down on Wednesday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, where prosecutors said the incident left the children with serious injuries.
Court Sentencing and Guilty Plea
The defendant, identified by police as Jada Luckey, pleaded guilty in January to four counts of felonious assault in connection with the July 30, 2025 incident in the Walnut Hills neighborhood. A judge sentenced her to four years in prison for each count, to be served concurrently, meaning she faces a total of four to six years behind bars and receives credit for time already served.
During the sentencing hearing, Luckey expressed remorse and acknowledged responsibility for her actions. She told the court she did not intend to harm the children and wished she could undo the tragedy.
Incident Details and Victims’ Injuries
According to court documents and police reports, the crash occurred after Luckey was involved in a physical altercation with several other adults outside the Alms apartment complex along Victory Parkway. Surveillance video captured the moments before she got into her vehicle and suddenly accelerated toward a group on the sidewalk, where three children aged 3 and younger were standing.
All three children were hospitalized with significant injuries. One child suffered extensive trauma after being dragged partially under the vehicle and may never fully recover mobility, while the other two children were treated for broken bones.
Law enforcement officials said Luckey admitted to using alcohol and drugs on the day of the crash. Prosecutors also noted that the children had been left unattended near the roadway; as a result, their mothers face separate child endangerment charges.
