Nigeria Church Attack Sparks Dispute as Christian Group Challenges Army Rescue Claim Nigeria Easter Attack eew magazine2

A fresh controversy has emerged in northern Nigeria after a deadly church attack in Kaduna state, with a leading Christian organization rejecting the military’s claim that dozens of abducted worshippers were successfully rescued. The disagreement has intensified concerns about security transparency and the ongoing threat posed by armed groups in the region.

Army Claims Successful Rescue Operation

The Nigerian military announced that troops had freed 31 people who were kidnapped when gunmen attacked a church in Ariko village, located in Kaduna’s Kachia district. The assault occurred during a religious gathering and left at least five people dead.

According to the army, soldiers engaged the attackers in a gunfight, forcing them to retreat and abandon the hostages. The operation was presented as a successful intervention aimed at protecting civilians and restoring order after the violent incident.

Christian Leaders Reject Rescue Narrative

Mass abductions and violent attacks have become increasingly common, often leading to conflicting reports from authorities and local organizations.

These repeated incidents continue to raise questions about the effectiveness of security operations and the accuracy of official communications, especially during crisis situations involving civilian
