Las Vegas, NV — A Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly
A 38-year-old Las Vegas resident has been charged with open murder after reportedly shooting his roommate following suspicions of an intimate relationship between the roommate and his long-term girlfriend, police said.
Shooting at Apartment Complex After Argument
Authorities responded to multiple 911 calls around 10 a.m. on February 12 at an apartment complex in central Las Vegas, where officers found a man suffering from gunshot injuries in the parking area. The victim, identified as Antwon Watson, was taken to Sunrise Hospital but later succumbed to his wounds, law enforcement said.
Surveillance footage from the building showed escalating tensions between the suspect and Watson before the shooting occurred. Investigators say the confrontation stemmed from growing jealousy and distrust involving the suspect’s girlfriend.
Suspect Flees, Later Arrested and Uncooperative
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in his vehicle. Police later located the vehicle and took him into custody. During questioning, the suspect reportedly gave conflicting statements and was uncooperative with investigating officers.
The suspect and his girlfriend had lived together for several years, and Watson had only recently moved in with them temporarily before planning to secure his own place. Watson’s family members expressed deep grief and shock, describing the tragedy as a devastating betrayal of friendship.
Court Hearing and Detention Status
The suspect is being held in the Clark County Detention Center without the option of bail. A preliminary court appearance is scheduled for later this week as prosecutors pursue charges related to the deadly shooting.
