Shooting Near White House Prompts Major Security Response
A deadly shooting near the White House triggered a large-scale security response on Saturday evening after an armed man reportedly opened fire at a security checkpoint in downtown Washington, D.C.
According to officials, the suspect approached a checkpoint located near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW before pulling a firearm from a bag and firing multiple shots toward officers stationed in the area. Secret Service personnel immediately returned fire, striking the suspect.
The individual was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Authorities confirmed that no law enforcement officers were hurt during the incident.
Bystander Injured During Exchange of Gunfire
