Tragic Hot Tub Incident Leads to Manslaughter Charges
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A 20-month-old girl died after drowning in a hot tub at a Florida rental property, authorities confirmed. Deputies from the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office arrested 33-year-old Reynard Tyrone Hough, of Washington, D.C., charging him with aggravated manslaughter of a child and child neglect with great bodily harm following the fatal discovery early Saturday morning.
Father Allegedly Fell Asleep With Daughter in Hot Tub
According to law enforcement, the family was staying at an Airbnb in the Four Corners area near Kissimmee when the incident occurred. Investigators say Hough had been in the hot tub with his young daughter in the early hours before falling asleep while holding her.
When he awakened, the toddler was unresponsive in his arms. Emergency responders were called to the scene just after 3:30 a.m., and the child was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Investigation, Arrest, and Pending Court Date
Initially booked on a child neglect charge, prosecutors later upgraded the allegations to aggravated manslaughter as part of the ongoing investigation. Hough remains in custody at the Osceola County Jail without bond ahead of his next hearing.
Officials have said the probe into the circumstances surrounding the young girl’s death is ongoing, with detectives reviewing all aspects of the tragic event.
