Roof-Hideout Caught the Eye of Police
In a dramatic operation in south Brisbane, local officers arrested six teenagers believed to be part of a criminal gang that struck multiple homes across the city. Among them was a 14-year-old from Marsden who attempted to evade capture by hiding in the insulation of a Kingston house roof. Police accessing body-cam footage can be seen shouting to the teen before crawling into the roof cavity and dragging him out by the legs. A child was reportedly found in the bedroom of the same house and also taken into custody.
Widespread Burglary Spree Across Several Suburbs
Authorities allege that the gang has committed almost 100 property-related offences across more than a dozen suburbs, including Bulimba, Springfield Lakes and Sunnybank Hills. The group of six – all aged between 14 and 16 – face charges including stealing, attempted burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. They are now due to appear in various children’s courts in Brisbane.
What This Means for Community Safety
This case highlights the growing concern of youth-involved organised offending in residential areas. The officers’ swift action in removing the suspect from the roof cavity signals a zero-tolerance approach to what law enforcement describes as “brazen home invasion” tactics. Residents in the affected suburbs can expect increased patrols in response to the recent surge in property crimes.
