US Extradites Colorado Mom Accused in Double Murder After Two-Year Legal Battle
A Colorado Springs woman accused of killing her two youngest children in late 2023 has been extradited from the United Kingdom and is now in custody in the United States, authorities confirmed Tuesday. After fighting a lengthy legal battle in UK courts, the 37-year-old mother was returned to Colorado to face serious criminal charges, including two counts of first-degree murder.
Extradition Completed After Legal Challenges in Britain
The accused was apprehended in London in December 2023, days after her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son were found dead in the family’s Colorado Springs home and her 11-year-old daughter was gravely injured. She originally claimed an unknown intruder attacked the family, but investigators later found inconsistencies in her story.
Singler denied harming her children and challenged her extradition, arguing that a possible sentence of life without parole in Colorado would contradict European human rights standards. However, UK judges upheld the extradition order earlier this year, and challenges to that decision were ultimately rejected before her return to the United States.
Multiple Charges Await Court Proceedings in Colorado
Once back on U.S. soil, the Colorado mother was booked into the El Paso County Jail and is expected to make her first court appearance soon. Local prosecutors have charged her with several counts, including two counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, child abuse and assault.
Officials have described the extradition and subsequent arrest as a significant step toward accountability in a case that deeply affected the Colorado Springs community. Law enforcement leaders said the surviving 11-year-old is likely to be an important witness as the case moves toward trial.
