Russian Attack on Kyiv Injures at Least 16, Ukrainian Officials Say ukraine

KYIV, Ukraine — A Russian barrage of missiles and drones struck Ukraine’s capital overnight and into Thursday morning, injuring at least 16 people, including two children, according to local authorities. The attack damaged residential buildings, warehouses, offices and other infrastructure across several districts of Kyiv.

Russian Missile and Drone Attack Hits Kyiv

The overnight assault on Kyiv was reported at more than 10 locations across the city, according to the Kyiv City Military Administration.

A 10-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy were among those injured in the attack. Authorities reported damage to buildings and vehicles in multiple parts of the capital as emergency crews responded to the strikes and falling debris.

The attack came amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, with both sides continuing military operations and long-range strikes.

Buildings and Infrastructure Damaged Across the Capital

Several districts of Kyiv reported damage following the Russian aerial assault.

In the Dniprovsky district, a warehouse, an office building, residential properties and cars were damaged. Warehouses and vehicles were also affected in the Solomyansky and Darnitsky districts.

Authorities reported roof damage to a non-residential building in the Podilsky district. The strikes also affected civilian infrastructure, adding to the disruption caused by repeated attacks on Ukrainian cities.

Emergency responders and other officials worked at the affected locations to assess the damage and assist those impacted.

Ukraine Reports Intercepting Russian Aerial Targets

Ukraine’s Air Force said it destroyed or suppressed 131 Russian aerial targets during the overnight attack.

The reported targets included ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, drones and decoys. The Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia and Odesa regions were identified as the main areas affected by the assault.

According to the Ukrainian military, strikes were recorded at 36 locations, while debris from intercepted aerial targets fell at five locations.

The attack highlights the continuing threat posed by Russian missile and drone operations against Ukraine, including its capital.
