KYIV, Ukraine — At least 16 people were injured in a Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, overnight and into Thursday morning, according to Ukrainian officials. The assault damaged residential buildings and other facilities across the city, while air raid alerts and explosions continued during the attack.
The latest strikes come as Russia continues its aerial campaign against Ukraine amid stalled efforts to reach a peace agreement.
Russian Strikes Damage Residential Buildings in Kyiv
The overnight assault targeted Kyiv with a combination of missiles and drones, sending residents to shelters as air defense systems responded to the incoming threats.
Ukrainian officials reported damage in several parts of the capital. A residential building was among the structures affected, with emergency services working to assess the damage and assist those injured.
The attack added to concerns over the safety of civilians living in Kyiv, which has faced repeated Russian airstrikes since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
Ukraine Reports Damage Across Multiple Regions
The attack was not limited to Kyiv. Other parts of Ukraine also reported damage and casualties following the overnight barrage.
Officials said strikes affected infrastructure and residential areas in several regions. The attacks underscored the continuing threat posed by Russian missiles and drones, particularly to urban communities and essential services.
