A 26-year-old attendee at the Singapore premiere of Wicked: For Good has been charged with being a public nuisance after he leapt over a boundary and made contact with pop icon Ariana Grande. The incident sparked alarm at the event and re-ignited discussion about security for high-profile performers.

Incident at the Premiere

At the premiere in Singapore of Wicked: For Good, a man identified as Johnson Wen reportedly jumped the barricade and approached Ariana Grande, who starred in the film. Actress Cynthia Erivo, also on stage, quickly intervened to shield Grande until security personnel removed the intruder. Witnesses say Grande appeared visibly shaken by the unexpected advance.

Legal Charges and Background

Wen, who goes by the Instagram handle “Troll Most Hated,” was arrested and has now been formally charged in Singapore. Under local law, a conviction could carry up to three months in prison, a fine of up to S$2,000, or both. He has indicated his intention to plead guilty. This is not Wen’s first disruptive stunt: earlier this year he was arrested in Australia after rushing onto the stage of a Katy Perry concert.

Spotlight on Performer Safety

The incident has prompted renewed scrutiny on the security measures at celebrity events, especially given Ariana Grande’s past trauma: her 2017 concert in Manchester was the target of a terrorist attack that killed 22 people and injured many others. The moment at the Singapore premiere served as a stark reminder of the risks that performers face even under controlled conditions.
