Authorities have arrested a 75-year-old man in connection with the killing of his 34-year-old wife after her dismembered remains were discovered months apart in New York. Investigators say the victim, Salisha Ali, had been missing since July 2025 before the investigation led police to multiple locations where parts of her body were recovered. The suspect now faces several serious charges as the case continues to unfold.
Wife Reported Missing After Last Contact With Family
According to investigators, Salisha Ali was last seen on July 13, 2025, when she spoke with relatives during a video call. Soon after that, she disappeared and was reported missing. Authorities later began a search that eventually turned into a homicide investigation.
Ali had moved to the United States after meeting the suspect in Trinidad in 2023. The couple married the following year and were living together before she suddenly vanished.
Police say the husband initially contacted authorities about her disappearance, but investigators continued gathering evidence in the months that followed.
Human Remains Found Months Apart
The investigation took a disturbing turn in September 2025 when sanitation workers discovered suspected human remains inside a garbage bag. The remains were later confirmed to belong to Ali after authorities identified distinctive tattoos.
Months later, on March 5, 2026, additional human remains were discovered near the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Workers conducting cleanup in the area reportedly noticed a strong odor and alerted authorities, leading to the discovery.
Investigators believe the body had been dismembered using sharp tools, including a knife and a saw, according to forensic findings.
Husband Arrested and Facing Multiple Charges
Following months of investigation, police arrested 75-year-old Rupchand Simboo on March 11, 2026. He has been charged with murder as well as obstruction of governmental administration and multiple counts related to tampering with evidence.
Authorities officially ruled Ali’s death a homicide earlier in 2026 after examining the evidence recovered during the investigation. Officials have not yet publicly confirmed the exact cause of death.
The case remains under investigation as law enforcement continues to review evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the killing.
