Uber Driver Cited for ‘Criminal Speeds’ on MCG With Passenger Onboard

Quis autem vel eum iure reprehenderit qui in ea voluptate velit esse quam nihil molestiae consequatur, vel illum qui dolorem eum.

An Uber driver carrying a passenger was cited for criminal speeding after a Pinal County deputy clocked him at 83 mph in a 50-mph zone on the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway last week.

The traffic stop occurred near Val Vista Road, an area that has seen several recent serious crashes, according to Deputy Frank Sloup, the “copfluencer” behind the viral Fridays with Frank series.

“This guy passed a bunch of cars back there … now he’s just on fire,” Sloup said as he pursued the rideshare vehicle in his unmarked Dodge Charger.

The driver, who still had California plates, a California license, and a Los Angeles Chargers sticker, initially told Sloup he had only been in Arizona for “a couple of months.” Under further questioning, he admitted it had been closer to eight months. Arizona law requires new residents to obtain an in-state driver’s license within 10 days.

Sloup issued citations for criminal speeding and failure to obtain an Arizona license.

The stop was recorded and posted on the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office’s YouTube channel, where Sloup’s traffic stops routinely draw hundreds of thousands of views.
