Skull Unearthed by Boardwalk Bushes Sparks Police Response
On the evening of Tuesday, December 9, a passerby noticed what appeared to be a skull tucked into thick shrubbery off the Coney Island Boardwalk between West 32nd and West 33rd Streets. Police and forensic teams were called to the scene shortly thereafter to secure the area and begin an initial assessment of the discovery.
Detectives from the New York City Police Department, alongside medical examiner officials, confirmed the remains were human and began canvassing the surrounding area for evidence. The location, a frequently visited section of the Brooklyn shoreline, was cordoned off as investigators combed through the underbrush.

Less than 24 hours later on Wednesday afternoon, recovery teams uncovered additional skeletal elements at the same location. These included arms, legs and other bone fragments believed to belong to the same individual. Despite the progress, investigators say several body parts are still missing.
