FBI Breaks Up Alleged New Year’s Eve Bomb Plot in Southern California

FBI Breaks Up Alleged New Year’s Eve Bomb Plot in Southern California webp 1

Los Angeles, CA — Federal authorities announced Monday that four individuals tied to a radical group were taken into custody in Southern California after being accused of planning a series of coordinated bombing attacks timed for New Year’s Eve. The arrests come after investigators discovered explosives and related materials as the suspects allegedly prepared to test devices in the desert outside Los Angeles.

Suspects Allegedly Planning Multiple Explosions

Officials said the suspects are linked to a hard-line extremist faction described as anti-government and anti-capitalist, with ties to a broader pro-Palestinian movement identified by law enforcement. Authorities revealed that a detailed operational plan was drawn up weeks ahead of the holiday.

The individuals named in court filings are Audrey Illeene Carroll (30), Zachary Aaron Page (32), Dante Gaffield (24), and Tina Lai (41) — all reportedly from the Los Angeles area. Each now faces federal counts, including conspiracy and possession of destructive devices, with prosecutors expected to announce additional charges as the case develops.

Authorities Intercept Attack Plans Before Holiday

According to law enforcement, the group was allegedly plotting bombings at multiple locations across Southern California starting on New Year’s Eve. Prosecutors said the plan targeted several high-traffic logistical centers — described generically by officials as “Amazon-type” facilities — though specific companies were not publicly identified.

Federal agents captured surveillance footage showing the suspects handling what appeared to be explosive devices in a desert area near Lucerne Valley. In addition to the arrests, authorities have been combing through evidence that includes bomb-making supplies and related material found in the suspects’ homes.

Federal Officials Praise Disruption of Plot

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and other senior law enforcement leaders held a news briefing to detail how the investigation unfolded and to underscore the seriousness of the threat that was averted. Officials emphasized the collaborative effort between agencies that led to the suspects’ capture before harm could occur.
