Federal charges have been filed against a man accused of threatening conservative social media influencer Benny Johnson as part of what former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi described as an “‘Antifa’ plot” to emulate the assassination of another conservative figure, Charlie Kirk.
At a fiery press conference on Friday, Pam Bondi announced the arrest of a suspect identified as George Isbel Jr., who has been federally charged with mailing threatening communications. Bondi stated the prosecution is part of a broader White House crackdown on politically motivated violence.

“This was a coward hiding behind a keyboard who thought he could get away with this…you are NOT going to get away with threatening people,” Bondi declared, adding that the accused “hated Benny because of his views, and he wanted Benny DEAD.”
The Attorney General further claimed the threats were an attempt by a “leftist man” to replicate a politically motivated assassination, explicitly naming conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Details of the Case and the Target:
- Suspect: George Isbel Jr.
- Charges: Federal charge of mailing threatening communications.
- Alleged Motive: Political hatred, described as an “‘Antifa’ plot” to take life.
- Warning: Bondi issued a stern warning: “Do not do this. We will find you.” She confirmed that if convicted, the suspect “is going to PRISON.”
The target, Benny Johnson, commands a significant social media presence with over four million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and is one of the nation’s most outspoken conservative commentators. He is known for his close affiliation with Donald Trump and other influential MAGA figures.
The successful arrest and charging were credited to “incredible teamwork” among law enforcement agencies. This high-profile federal case underscores the increasing focus on threats of violence targeting political commentators and figures across the country.
