HURRICANE, Utah — A 30-year-old man is facing serious criminal charges after he was allegedly found hiding inside a 16-year-old girl’s bedroom closet early Friday morning. Authorities say the suspect, who was shirtless at the time of the discovery, attempted to flee through a window and reportedly shoved the girl’s mother before officers arrived.

Allegations and Arrest

Police were called to a Hurricane, Utah, home just after 4:30 a.m. when a concerned parent discovered an adult male concealed in her child’s closet, according to court records. The suspect, identified as Victor Ivan Ernesto Gamez Tesucun, allegedly pushed the mother into a wall when confronted and then escaped momentarily through a nearby window before being apprehended.

Law enforcement has charged him with eight counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, one count of assault, and one count of tampering with evidence. Tesucun was booked into the Purgatory Correctional Facility in Hurricane, where he remains held without bail and subject to an immigration detainer.

Details From Official Documents

According to the probable cause affidavit, the teenage girl told investigators that she and Tesucun had engaged in sexual intercourse on multiple occasions over a period of several months. During a subsequent police interview, the suspect purportedly admitted to having had sexual contact with the minor eight times over the past five months.

Investigators also allege that Tesucun deleted text messages exchanged between him and the teen and encouraged her to delete them as well to conceal the relationship. These actions form the basis of the evidence tampering charge.

Current Status and Legal Proceedings

Tesucun appeared before a judge on Friday and was ordered to remain in custody without bail as the case moves forward. Prosecutors have not yet released further details about potential plea agreements or upcoming court dates.

This case highlights growing concerns about online and in-person predatory behavior involving minors, and local law enforcement urges anyone with information about similar situations to come forward.
