NYCHA Workers Discover Dismembered Body of Mother of Four in Brooklyn Garbage Room
New York City police have launched a homicide investigation after the dismembered remains of a woman were discovered inside a garbage compactor room at a Brooklyn public housing complex. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Michelle Montgomery, a mother of four from Boerum Hill.
The discovery was made on Sunday morning at the Borinquen Plaza NYCHA complex located at 330 Bushwick Avenue in Williamsburg. According to police reports, housing authority workers were moving trash bags in the building’s basement when they encountered an unusually heavy black plastic bag near the trash chute. Upon opening the bag to inspect its contents, the employees found severed human remains.
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after 9:40 a.m. and pronounced the victim dead. While the medical examiner is currently working to determine the official cause of death, police have confirmed the identity of the remains. Investigators noted that Montgomery did not reside in the building where she was found.
No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and the investigation remains active. Residents of the complex expressed shock and concern regarding security measures in the building, questioning how the body could have been disposed of in the secured utility area without notice. Police are urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers as detectives continue to canvass the neighborhood for surveillance footage and potential witnesses.
