A Georgia mother is facing serious criminal charges after police say she left her 7-month-old baby inside a scorching vehicle while she worked at a local car dealership, resulting in the child’s death. Investigators say high temperatures inside the car proved fatal long before the infant was discovered.
Infant Left in Vehicle for Hours, Police Say
Authorities reported that the baby was left inside the parked car for several hours while the mother worked her shift at the dealership. Temperatures outside the vehicle were already dangerously high, and officials believe the heat inside the car rose to deadly levels within minutes.
Paramedics were called after the unresponsive infant was found, but despite emergency efforts, the child could not be revived.
Mother Arrested on Murder Charge
Following the incident, the mother was taken into custody and is now facing charges including murder and child cruelty. Police say the investigation is active as they continue gathering evidence and reviewing security footage from the dealership.
Officials Continue Investigation
Detectives are interviewing staff members, reviewing the timeline, and examining the vehicle for additional clues. Child welfare authorities have also been notified as part of standard protocol for cases involving minors.
