Man Arrested After Fatal Dealership Shooting Triggered by Dispute Over Hummer Purchase DeNooyer Night Shot 0617 correct

In Shelby Township, Michigan, law enforcement has arrested a 46-year-old Texas resident after he allegedly returned to a suburban Detroit car dealership and fatally shot two employees during a robbery. The incident follows a heated dispute over a $3,000 Hummer vehicle the suspect believed was defective. Investigators say the confrontation escalated quickly and resulted in deadly consequences.

Dispute Over Vehicle Purchase Leads to Deadly Confrontation

According to the prosecutor, the suspect had purchased the used Hummer from the Star Auto Sales dealership and claimed the vehicle was a “lemon.” Roughly three weeks later, surveillance footage shows a masked gunman entering the dealership, opening fire at close range and leaving on foot. The two victims—aged 40 and 48—were discovered by a staff member returning from buying auto parts.

Arrest and Investigation Details

Authorities traced the rental car linked to the suspect to a motel in Romulus. During a no-knock warrant executed on November 8, officers found the suspect in the room alongside two handguns, stolen cash, and a large quantity of cocaine. Investigators reported that he also faced an outstanding felony warrant in Texas connected to a prior shooting.

Legal Status and Next Steps

The accused is being held without bond at the Macomb County Jail and is expected to appear for a probable-cause hearing on November 24, with a preliminary examination set for December 1. Extradition to Texas may follow due to the prior warrant. The case highlights the intersection of consumer disputes, gun violence, and interstate law enforcement efforts.
