Late Saturday night, gunfire erupted outside a supermarket in San Francisco’s Outer Richmond neighborhood, leaving five people wounded—among them one adult in critical condition and four minors with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident, triggered by an altercation, led to a chaotic scene and a swift response by police, who are now appealing for public assistance as the search for suspects continues.

Shooting erupts amid fight outside store
Around 9 p.m., officers from the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) arrived near the intersection of Fulton Street and the Great Highway after reports of multiple gunshots. They discovered five individuals suffering from gunshot wounds outside a supermarket in the Outer Richmond area. One adult male sustained life-threatening injuries, while four juveniles were treated for lesser wounds and transported to hospital. Capt. Kevin Lee told reporters the violence originated from a fight that escalated into gunfire.

Investigation and community reaction
No suspects have been apprehended and authorities say the incident appears to be isolated, not part of a broader threat to the public. Meanwhile, witnesses described panic as people fled the scene—one 19-year-old recounted hiding behind a log in nearby Golden Gate Park after hearing the shots. In a statement, Mayor Daniel Lurie condemned the violence, saying it “does not represent who we are as a city, and we will never tolerate it.”

What comes next
Investigators from the SFPD are continuing to collect evidence and have asked anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to come forward. As of now, no further details on suspects or motive have been released.
