Alleged Wi-Fi Argument Turns Violent in Kentucky

A Kentucky man has been arrested after authorities say a disagreement involving Wi-Fi access escalated into a violent baseball bat attack that left two people injured.

According to investigators, 44-year-old Jonathan Gross was taken into custody in Pulaski County after allegedly assaulting a man and woman inside an apartment. Police say the incident began after Gross became angry when the couple disabled internet access he had reportedly been using.

Deputies responding to the scene found a woman outside the apartment suffering from a head injury and bleeding heavily. Officials said both victims reported being struck with a baseball bat during the confrontation.

Police Say Suspect Threatened Couple Before Attack

Court documents allege Gross warned the victims that he would kill them if the Wi-Fi service was not turned back on before he returned to his room.

One of the victims reportedly managed to escape during the assault and contacted emergency services for help. When officers arrived, Gross allegedly barricaded himself inside a bedroom and refused multiple commands to come out.

Authorities later entered the room and arrested him without further incident.

Investigators have not released additional information about the condition of the victims, but both reportedly suffered head injuries during the attack.

Attempted Murder Charges Filed

Gross now faces several criminal charges, including two counts of attempted murder, disorderly conduct, terroristic threatening, and public intoxication.

Jail records show he is currently being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond. A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for later this month.

The case has drawn attention online because of the unusual dispute that allegedly triggered the violent incident.
