Israeli Strikes Claim Lives of Medics and Civilians in Southern Lebanon

At least 10 people were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes across southern Lebanon over a 24-hour period, according to Lebanese health authorities. The victims reportedly included six paramedics and a child, raising concerns about the safety of emergency responders operating in conflict-affected areas.

The attacks struck several locations in the Tyre district and surrounding areas. Lebanese officials condemned the strikes, describing them as violations of international humanitarian norms. Israeli military officials said the operations targeted Hezbollah-linked infrastructure and fighters while efforts were made to reduce civilian casualties.

Ambulance Teams Among the Victims

Health officials reported that emergency medical workers were among those killed during the strikes. In one incident, paramedics responding to an earlier attack were caught in a subsequent strike, resulting in multiple fatalities. Several other emergency personnel were also reported injured.

The deaths of medical responders have sparked renewed criticism from humanitarian organizations, which have repeatedly called for stronger protections for healthcare workers and emergency services operating in conflict zones. Hospitals and medical facilities in southern Lebanon have also faced damage during recent hostilities.

Conflict Continues Despite Ceasefire Efforts

The latest violence comes despite a U.S.-brokered ceasefire intended to reduce hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah. While the agreement has helped limit large-scale escalation, both sides have continued exchanging attacks in border regions.

Israeli forces have maintained that operations are aimed at preventing Hezbollah from strengthening military positions near the border. Hezbollah, meanwhile, has continued launching attacks against Israeli military targets in southern Lebanon.

Regional and international observers have expressed concern that ongoing violations could further destabilize the area and complicate diplomatic efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire.
