11-Year-Old Girl Seriously Injured in Florida Parking Lot Shooting
An 11-year-old girl is continuing her recovery after she was struck in the head by a stray bullet while sitting in a vehicle with her family outside a McDonald’s restaurant in Hallandale Beach, Florida. Medical experts have decided not to remove the bullet because the procedure could pose a greater risk to her health.
The child, identified as Dora Belen Rivera, was waiting with her father and younger siblings while her mother went inside the restaurant to collect their food. Authorities say the family had no connection to the violence that suddenly unfolded in the parking lot.
Family Caught in Gunfire During Unrelated Dispute
Investigators said an argument between other individuals escalated into gunfire, leaving the innocent family caught in the middle. Rivera suffered a gunshot wound to the head, while her father, Oscar Roman Miron, was shot in the hip.
Two younger children who were also inside the vehicle escaped without physical injuries but witnessed the frightening incident.
Miron has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home. His daughter remains in stable condition after undergoing surgery and receiving specialized medical treatment.
Doctors Say Removing the Bullet Is Too Dangerous
According to information shared by the family’s supporters, doctors determined that attempting to remove the bullet at this stage could result in even more severe injuries. As a result, it will remain in place while Rivera continues her recovery under close medical supervision.
Medical professionals expect the young girl to face a long rehabilitation process that may include ongoing therapy and follow-up treatment.
Meanwhile, police arrested 18-year-old Ralph N-Kosi Blue III in connection with the shooting. He faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault. Authorities said the family were innocent bystanders and not involved in the confrontation that led to the shooting. The suspect remains in custody without bond as the investigation continues.
